Making the Super White Family
We use an earthenware ceramic for our Super White Family, giving them a pleasing substance which ensures that the light has a sense of presence even with its bright white glossy finish. The earthenware is slip-cast in plaster moulds. A process that involves pouring liquid clay into the moulds, allowing a skin to dry next to the plaster and then pouring off the excess. The shades are then removed from the moulds in their leather state before being fired, hand glazed and then fired again.
