Each I-beam is made of solid timber in either maple or cherry which is then hand oiled to finish here in the UK. A high-quality up and down LED made in Austria is integrated within the I-Beam giving an even all over glow through the bespoke crafted paper.
The paper is located with a copper central ring that clicks in place with an embedded magnet to ensure the copper ring is always centrally located. The paper seam can be set to be either at the bottom to create an organic shape and light output, or the seam can be secured at the top creating a more tubular effect. We love the seam at the bottom.
The wiring cable is a black thin gauge rubber cable, and the light is suspended on thing gauge stainless steel cables and discreet super clamps allowing for easy adjustability on site.
A simple white metal ceiling rose is provided to the power end allowing for simple installation and connections. Please note an external driver comes with this light and this needs to be located somewhere remotely.
The LED is available in 2700K and 3000K versions.

Paper Foundation Craft Paper
Paper is a beautiful and traditional material used for lighting. It is lightweight and in some way ephemeral like light itself. The quality of the paper is derived from the fibre and how it is milled, sieved and dried.
The bespoke paper made by the Paper Foundation for Hand & Eye is made in the age old tradition of recycling linen rags. The fibres are run through beautifully restored old milling machines that circulate water and fibre through a grinding wheel. The art is in getting the fibre lengths to be correct. Our paper sheets are milled for many hours and then suspended in a water bath. A traditional metal paper making mould is then passed through water allowing the water to run off and the fibres to form a thin bed of paper. Each sheet is then dried and pressed to form a beautiful unique piece.
