Water jet cutting

To get the lovely sharp cut though the ceramic extrusion on our O-Beam lights we use waterjet cutting.

A machine follows a set computer program to slice through the ceramic using the power of water. It sounds easy but because the extrusion is round, we have to carefully protect the other size from being damaged by the waterjet. For the up-and-down version of the light we also have to turn the beam by hand and be really careful to make sure that the turn is exactly 180 degrees. This makes it a very time consuming process.

Follow this link to see how the O-Beam extruded ceramic linear light fixture looks once it is complete.
